The decade between 1976 and 1986 was the classic Rockpalast era. Most of our audience remember the Rockpalast nights at the Grugahalle in Essen, which were broadcast live on German TV and via Eurovision all over Europe twice a year. Great occasions for all Rockpalast fans, an opportunity for parties in front of the TV screen, from Italy to the North Cape.

SPV is now releasing a selection of legendary concerts from the German WDR Rockpalast TV shows on DVD!
Including performances by Earth Wind & Fire, Spirit, Dickey Betts & Great Southern, Paul Butterfield Band and many more… 

A combination of rock, jazz, blues, funk, and folk music, Spirit have collaborated with legendary musicians from each of those genres. Jimi Hendrix, Thelonius Monk, and Ry Cooder are just three of their many admirers and associates. During a thirty year career that spanned 1967 through 1997, Spirit made several critically-acclaimed albums. This concert, recorded in 1978, marks the band’s induction into the ROCKPALAST hall of fame, and serves as a fitting tribute to the late frontman, Randy California, who drowned off the coast of Hawaii while attempting to rescue his son from a rip current.
