Re: MAGNOLIA SIMMS: Consider, very very carefully, HOW the end
of this recording was accomplished: Without digital technology,
making it sound, first, like the record stuck on Mike’s voice; Then in removing the needle, clumsily bouncing off the song for a second, and returning it to the disc. This required literal HOURS OF very very patient hand-editing (cutting copy or copies of the tape with scissors and re-assembling in order), then adding the ‘scratchy’ 78 sound; OR (alternate method) making a quick acetate of the performance, creating a literal point at which the disc sticks, and playing it into a
tape recorder…. This Is A Remarkable work of great inventiveness. THINK SLOWLY as you listen again to the track!!
Really GREAT news!!!
The monkees are my favorite group & I collect stuff on them.
It looks like a really great collection!
THANK YOU Rhino for putting this together! :)
