Elkie Brooks Vinegar Joe – Sunshine After The Rain: The Collection

Elkie Brooks has one of the UK’s most remarkable and distinctive voices. Her repertoire – a mixture of self-penned material and well-selected covers have made her a household name in the UK. It was 1981’s release of the Pearls album which propelled Elkie into the realms of superstardom. Pearls was a collection of past hits and new recordings rose to number 2 and stayed in the charts for an incredible 79 weeks. At the time of release it became the biggest selling album by a British female singer in the history of the UK charts, selling over 1.2 million.

In 2010, she celebrates an outstanding 50 years in the music business.

This new 2CD collection is the first to look at Elkie’s career from her beginnings at Decca, through her time with Vinegar Joe (featuring Robert Palmer) and through her recordings from A&M and the Legend label right up to the Electric Lady LP. This collection features every hit you could possibly want from Elkie; including Pearl’s a Singer, Lilac Wine, No More The Fool, Fool If You Think It’s Over and Gasoline Alley.

Sunshine After The Rain kicks off a year of activity planned for the Elkie Brooks catalogue which will see classic album reissues and more.

Elkie begins her 50th Anniversary concert tour in January with 31 dates all the way through to September and more being added.
