EMI are releasing an expanded version of Donovan’s classic Sunshine Superman album on 6th June. Nicely timed with his Royal Albert Hall show where he will perform the album in it’s entirety.

With all of the original U.S.A. edition album tracks appearing twice, it raises the question of whether we are getting a first-time stereo version of the album, or whether Disc One is alternate takes. Either way, I’ll be buying it. (The reason I described a “U.S.A. edition” is because the U.S.A. editions of “Sunshine Superman” & “Mellow Yellow” are the original artist-compiled albums. Donovan couldn’t release records in the UK for an extended period of time due to legal problems with his former label “Pye”, and when these problems were cleared, Donovan released a hybrid UK album under the title “Sunshine Superman” featuring the best of the two American albums)
