On 28 June 2010, Eagle Rock Entertainment release the next instalment in their “Classic Albums” series. “Classic Albums: Paranoid” will have a simultaneous release on DVD and Blu-ray formats [Cat No: EREDV675 and ERBRD5047 respectively]. The programme tells the story of the creation of “Paranoid”, an album which is both hugely influential and has come to define the Heavy Metal genre. “Paranoid” was Sabbath’s only UK number one album.
The acclaimed “Classic Albums” series is a definitive collection of the stories behind the albums that form the soundtrack to our lives. The latest addition to the series tells the story behind the making of one of Heavy Metal’s greatest achievements. “Paranoid” by Black Sabbath was released in the autumn of 1970 and the band’s second album is regarded by many as the finest Heavy Metal album of all time. The four original members of Black Sabbath: Ozzy Osbourne, Tony Iommi, Geezer Butler and Bill Ward talk us through the making of the album, together with the original engineer via interviews, demonstrations, archive videos and use of the original multi-track tapes. “Paranoid” has stood the test of time as one of the great rock albums of all time and is a worthy addition to the “Classic Albums” series.
This programme will be broadcast by the BBC as part of the new series of “Classic Albums” but the DVD and Blu-ray releases feature over 40 minutes of additional interviews and performances not featured in the broadcast version. “Classic Albums: Paranoid” is fully authorised and approved by the band. Based on one of the best selling rock albums of all time [certified seven times Platinum in the UK] this is a truly essential rock release.
