Bowie fans can rejoice over the news that A REALITY TOUR is finally being released as a double-CD, an audio remastering of his hugely successful 2004 tour including three previously unreleased tracks from the concert: China Girl, Breaking Glass and Fall Dog Bombs The Moon.
Caught at the very apex of his storied career, fronting a crack band that spotlights guitarist Earl Slick, Bowie cuts loose with “Fame” (co-written with John Lennon); a thrilling audience sing-along version of “All The Young Dudes” (a huge hit Bowie penned for Mott The Hoople); “Under Pressure” (co-written by Bowie and members of Queen, including Freddie Mercury); and “Changes,” the Bowie song that all but defines the man’s career in a single word. With few exceptions, no other singer in the history of pop music has been around for this long and sounds as exciting now as he ever did!
The album features over 30 classic Bowie songs spanning from The Man Who Sold the World album (1970), all the way to Reality album (2003), along with collaborations such as Sister Midnight (with Iggy Pop) and “Under Pressure” (with Queen), and snippets and teasers of Bowie classics such as “Space Oddity” and “Golden Years” – this is essentially a Greatest Hits Live package!

JOHN LENNON’S EARLY LIFE “NOWHERE BOY” SOUNDTRACK DUE
November 18, 2009 by Your Way To Music
Filed under New Releases - CD's

Sony Music is pleased to announce the CD and Digital Download release of the soundtrack album of the year, “Nowhere Boy” – the critically acclaimed hot new film biopic about John Lennon’s teenage years which led to his musical career from the Quarrymen to his early relationship with Paul McCartney and George Harrison when the Beatles first set off to Hamburg.
Featuring the directorial debut of Sam Taylor-Wood and screenplay by Matt Greenhalgh (who wrote the script for the 2007 Joy Division filmControl), the film recently closed the prestigious London Film Festival and to rapturous applause and rave reviews, prompting comparisons with the runaway success of Slumdog Millionaire.
An essential addition to Beatles collections, this authentic rock’n'roll album soundtrack is released by Sony Music as a 2-disc CD set on Monday 14th December, two weeks before the film is released in the UK on Boxing Day (26th December).
The film features a wealth of British talent, including a career-defining performance from Aaron Johnson as the young John Lennon, plus outstanding performances from Kristin Scott Thomas as Aunt Mimi and Anne Marie Duff as Lennon’s mother. The film has received Yoko Ono’s blessing.
“Nowhere Boy is brilliantly evocative and provocative.” – The Guardian
A member of the Young British Artists movement, Sam Taylor-Wood is the British conceptualist artist whose work includes photography and cinema. In 1997 she was nominated for the Turner Prize and won the Illy Café Prize for Most Promising Young Artist at the 47th Venice Biennale. Nowhere Boy is her first full length feature as a film director.
Nowhere Boy chronicles Lennon’s life from 1955, when he was a rebellious 15-year-old living in stifling suburbia with his Aunt Mimi (Kristin Scott Thomas) and his difficult relationship with his mother (Anne Marie Duff), delves into the beginning of his music career with his first band the Quarrymen, and ends with his departure for Hamburg with two other unknowns, Paul McCartney and George Harrison.
Before Lennon formed the Beatles, rock’n'roll was a huge influence on his formative years, and therefore plays a massive part of the film. The album soundtrack is no exception.
“Aaron Johnson captures John Lennon’s essence to perfection.” – Daily Telegraph
The album is a stylishly packaged deluxe 2CD set which features the soundtrack to the film on disc one, plus a collection of vintage rock’n'roll classics that inspired John Lennon as a second disc. Interestingly, the first disc includes original tracks recorded especially for the film by the band that portray ‘The Quarrymen’ characters (credited on the soundtrack as The Nowhere Boys). The album features unique takes on these songs, as well as original recordings from Elvis Presley, Buddy Holly, Little Richard, Screamin’ Jay Hawkins, and many more.
“The music movie of the decade.” – GQ
Following with the success of the Beatles re-masters and the Rock Band game earlier this year, the timely release of this fabulous John Lennon motion picture soundtrack makes for a worthy addition to the collection of any dedicated Beatles fan or anyone who is interested in the history of the rock’n'roll and feature films.

Carole King And James Taylor Announce ‘Troubadour Reunion’ World Tour
Hollywood Bowl Tickets Go On Sale Nov 23 With North American And European Dates To Be Announced Soon
Tour Kicks Off In Australia, New Zealand And Japan
Iconic musicians Carole King and James Taylor announced today that they will embark on a “Troubadour Reunion” world tour. The world tour will kick off in Melbourne, Australia on March 27 and will travel to New Zealand and Japan before coming to North America and Europe. This once-in-a-lifetime event brings together two of the most beloved singer/songwriters for a rare concert experience. The set list will include a breadth of material including songs they performed during their 1970 debut show at the Troubadour in Los Angeles, which helped propel them both to the world stage. Tickets for dates in Australia and New Zealand and The Hollywood Bowl in Los Angeles go on-sale Nov. 23. Tickets for dates in Japan go on sale Dec. 12. Additional dates in North America and Europe will be announced soon.
The idea for the “Troubadour Reunion” tour came together in 2007 after Taylor and King performed at the famed Los Angeles venue for the first time since 1970 to celebrate the Troubadour’s 50th Anniversary. The shows sold out immediately and garnered rave reviews from fans and critics alike. The Los Angeles Times noted “the sense of occasion [and] weight of history in the evening” and Variety said “Taylor and King reminded us about the intensity of song, that the artistically-rich and commercially-viable are not mutually exclusive and how one tiny club continues to be a birthing room for some of this city’s most memorable music.”
Now fans outside of Los Angeles will be able to experience what was created on that magical evening in 2007. Nearly four decades after helping define the singer-songwriter movement, King and Taylor will tour together with their original bandmates guitarist Danny “Kootch” Kortchmar, drummer Russ Kunkel and bassist Lee Sklar, famous in their own right as “The Section”.
“When James and I first played together in the early seventies, we connected immediately, both musically and personally, with an effortless, comfortable familiarity,” says Carole King. “After we reunited in 2007 with Danny Kortchmar, Lee Sklar, and Russ Kunkel, the original band from our early Troubadour shows, none of us wanted the fun to stop. We can’t wait to bring our Troubadour Reunion tour to Australia.”
“This tour, our Troubadour Reunion, has been waiting to happen for a long time and the years seem to have vanished, where does the time go?” asks Taylor. “When we reunited for the Troubadour’s 50th Anniversary celebration, it felt like yesterday. It was and still is all about the music and the songs that we get to perform together.”
Carole King performed with James Taylor at the Troubadour in November 1970. This historic show marked King’s debut as a solo artist after penning 22 Top 40 hits for artists ranging from Aretha Franklin to the Monkees, while James was supporting his self-titled Apple Records release featuring classics such as “Carolina In My Mind” and “Something In The Way She Moves.” Both have since become multi-platinum-selling artists, GRAMMY® winners, and members of the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame and the Songwriters Hall of Fame.
In 1971, King gave us the landmark Tapestry. The album received a Diamond Award from the RIAA for sales of more than 10 million units in the U.S., with more than 25 million units sold worldwide. King was the first woman to win four GRAMMY® Awards in one year (Best Album, Best Song, Best Record, and Best Vocal Performance in 1972), a feat unsurpassed for more than 25 years, and was featured on the cover of Time Magazine in 1973. In 1987, King and Gerry Goffin were inducted into the Songwriters Hall of Fame and honored with their Lifetime Achievement Award in 1988. Goffin and King were also inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 1990 and were honored by The National Academy of Recording Arts and Sciences in 2004 with the GRAMMY® Trustees’ Award. To date, more than 400 Carole King compositions have been recorded by more than 1000 artists, resulting in 100 hit singles – many reaching #1. She is arguably the most successful and revered female songwriter in pop music history. Carole King has released 25 solo albums, the most recent being The Living Room Tour double-live CD on her own Rockingale Records label. The companion DVD, entitled Welcome to My Living Room, is now available.
Over the course of his career, James Taylor has sold more than 40 million albums, and won more than 40 gold, platinum and multi-platinum awards as well as five GRAMMY® Awards. Taylor’s first Greatest Hits album earned him the RIAA’s elite Diamond Award, given for sales in excess of 10 million units in the United States. In 2000, Taylor was inducted into both the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame and the Songwriters Hall of Fame. In February 2006, The National Academy of Recording Arts and Sciences named Taylor its MUSICARES Person of the Year. Taylor’s CD/DVD One Man Band (2007) was nominated for an Emmy and his most recent album, Covers, was nominated for two GRAMMY® Awards in 2008. He most recently released Other Covers in April 2009.

SIMPLE MINDS RELEASE USB STICKS OF LIVE SHOWS
November 13, 2009 by Your Way To Music

Simple Minds have joined forces with Germany’s leading online music live recording company Concert Online, to release live concert recordings on customized USB sticks directly after their live concerts on their current European and forthcoming highly anticipated Graffiti Soul UK Tour.
The live recording USB sticks were initially soft-launched during the Simple Minds’ Graffiti Soul European tour, in Vienna on 3rd November. The “concert sticks” will roll out during the bands’ UK tour that starts at the Newcastle Metro Arena on Monday 30th November.
Fans who attend any of the dates will be able to purchase the live recording memory sticks directly after the concerts and can download the encores once they install the memory stick into their USB port on their computers. To download the encores, the user can automatically hyperlink to www.concert-online.com and can enter serial code clearly marked on the USB concert sticks.
Minutes after the last cymbal of the evening has been thrashed, fans will be able to pay a visit to the venue merchandise stall, where they can purchase an elegantly packaged box container and tour branded USB stick containing a recording of the show they’ve just experienced.
“But that’s not all,” says Simple Minds lead singer Jim Kerr, “no matter where you are in the world, you can go online and download the songs from that show, or you can have the stick packaged and sent directly to you. It’s amazing.”
Concert Online offers concerts in various downloadable formats or on branded USB sticks (Concert Sticks) in collectible boxes. The company believes that when a music fan experiences a concert that they really enjoy, they’ll probably want a record of the concert, so they can hear it over and over again. Mobile phones record poor quality, so if music fans are looking for spectacular sound quality, the concert sticks make a collectable keepsake and souvenir. The USB concert sticks can be purchased instantly and make CD and DVD burning redundant.
The retail selling price for the live recording sticks on Simple Minds’ current European tour retails for 25 Euros, while the asking approximate selling price on their forthcoming UK dates is expected to retail for £25. The USB stick stores up to 1 gigabyte of storage space.
Concert Online offers the following formats to their end-users – MP3s (usually 320 kbit/s), high-quality DivX AVI files, h.264-encoded MP4s and large-capacity *.iso files that can be easily burnt by the purchaser.
On a recent tour of Italy, Kerr reflects upon the reaction of the memory sticks from the Italian fans as bordering on “quasi ecstatic.”
Christian Reimann, VP of Marketing and Sales for Concert Online says, “The storage capacity of the USB sticks has the potential for bands to expand beyond songs performed during that evening’s particular set. Simple Minds are the kind of band who tends to vary their set by three or four songs each night. If you are a committed Simple Minds fan, you’ll want to collect the memory sticks from the entire tour. In addition to that, we always try to offer priceless extras for the real fans, such as exclusive backstage video or still photo material, interviews etc. It’s a music fan’s wet dream.”
Simple Minds are adamant that as their European tour progresses and the live recording USB sticks stack up, wherever possible they intend to include sound check songs that might not feature in that evening’s set. During the sound checks, Simple Minds quite often tend to perform rarities that usually never get performed during the actual concert.
On a recent USB stick live recording from the band’s Acona, Italy concert, the stick included a recording of the song Light Travels, played for the first time outside of a rehearsal room but not on the actual night. The band road tested the song and eventually held it back so they could debut it at their Rome concert the following night.
What really gets Kerr excited about the instant USB stick live recordings is that the fans get to experience the spontaneity as well as the warts and all of the live performances. “It’s something you don’t tend to get on a conventional studio album,” reflects Kerr.
The USB concert sticks contain up to 2.5 hours of music, however, Kerr already has plans to expand on the content. “We’d love to include poster artwork, interviews and much more information on the USB sticks,” says Kerr. “Should concert sticks prove successful, we’re looking into donating a decent percentage of whatever profits to a Simple Minds affiliated charity. The Mandela charity comes to mind, as does for obvious reasons perhaps a children’s hospital ward in Glasgow – it is the city that gave birth to Simple Minds after all.”
Order Simple Minds “Live Concert” USB Stick
The Concert Online team has taken its mobile audio recording unit and joined Simple Minds’ “Graffiti Soul Tour 2009″ to record every single evening concert live. The resulting live recordings are split into individual tracks on-site, labeled, and converted to high-quality MP3s (320 kBit/s).
Order the audio recordings in MP3 format on a Concert Stick directly after the show right here – www.concert-online.com or order direct from the Simple Minds Concert Store -
