This release is part of Eagle’s ongoing series of releases on CD and DVD from the legendary 1970 Isle Of Wight Festival [the CD was released in 2008].
“Live At The Isle Of Wight 1970” features tracks from The Moody Blues’ best selling albums: “Days Of Future Passed”, “In Search Of The Lost Chord”, “On The Threshold Of A Dream”, “To Our Children’s Children’s Children” and “A Question Of Balance” and the show includes the classic hit singles “Nights In White Satin” and “Question”.

In 1970 The Moody Blues were at their creative and commercial peak. After reinventing themselves from their R&B roots to a much more sophisticated sound, between 1967 and 1970 they released five albums, four of which hit the Top 5 in the UK with two of them going to No.1. They enjoyed similar success in the USA where four of the albums hit the Top 20 and the other was just outside.
At the end of August 1970, shortly after the release of their album “A Question Of Balance”, The Moody Blues took to the stage of the Isle Of Wight Festival in front of an audience estimated at over half a million. This DVD makes that performance available to be seen for the first time.

MOBY GRAPE RARITIES CD DUE FROM SUNDAZED 24 MARCH

Despite a myriad of obstacles, Moby Grape managed to persevere and create a potent and enduring body of recorded work, recording four albums during its original 1967–1969 lifespan. While 1967’s Moby Grape is widely acknowledged as a classic (and one of rock’s greatest debut albums), the subsequentWow, Moby Grape ’69 and Truly Fine Citizenare all underrated gems with much to recommend them.
It’s a measure of the musicians’ abundance of talent and creativity that, despite the multiple roadblocks that they confronted, Moby Grape recorded prolifically and cut a wealth of originally unreleased material. The Place and the Time offers a scintillating assortment of rare tracks cut during the band’s heady 1967–1968 heyday. Encompassing audition recordings, album outtakes, alternate versions, live material and more, the recordings offer a powerful testament to the remarkable rapport that made Moby Grape such a unique force.
The fact that music this stunning and original sat on the shelf for so long is just another in the litany of injustices that haunt the Moby Grape story. But the band’s majestic recorded legacy has outlasted the bad luck, bad choices and bad vibes. The music remains as fresh and inspiring as ever, and the vintage material featured in this collection constitutes a crucial addition to Moby Grape’s already monumental body of work.

THE BLOCKHEADS RETURN WITH NEW ALBUM VIA EMI
February 19, 2009 by Your Way To Music
Filed under New Releases - CD's
On April 6th The Blockheads; one of the punk and new wave era’s best loved bands, are set to return to the forefront of the British music scene with a brand new studio album“Staring Down The Barrel” via EMI Records, and will also embark on a nationwide UK tour.
Originally known as Ian Dury & The Blockheads, the current line-up, consisting of four of the original members; Chaz Jankel (piano, guitar), Mick Gallagher (keyboards), Norman Watt-Roy (bass) and John Turnbull (guitar), are joined by Dylan Howe (drums) andGilad Atzmon (sax). “Barrel” is the second studio album the Blockheads have released since their original lead singer, Ian Dury, passed away from cancer in 2000.
Comprised of new music written by Jankel (who wrote the music for the hit singles Sex & Drugs & Rock & Roll, and Hit Me With Your Rhythm Stick), the lyrics are penned by new Blockheads vocalist Derek Hussey (aka Derek The Draw), Dury’s personal minder from 1990-2000.
With the front CD inlay artwork illustrated by Sir Peter Blake (formerly Ian Dury’s art tutor); the new album coincides with the Blockhead’s UK and French tour dates, which includes a special show at the historic London punk venue, the Electric Ballroom on 30th April featuring original Blockheads’ saxophonist Davey Payne (who returns to the band for one night only).
The new album coincides with the 30th Anniversary of Hit Me With Your Rhythm Stickthat originally reached No.1 in the UK singles chart in 1979, selling in excess of 1 million copies.
It has just been officially confirmed that an unconventional film biopic about the iconic musician Ian Dury entitled Sex & Drugs & Rock & Roll, will star Andy Serkis (Lord of the Rings) in the title role. Produced by Damian Jones (Kidulthood, Adulthood), the film will be released in 2010. Jankel has been appointed as musical supervisor, while The Blockheads have already recorded tracks for the film soundtrack.

For over four decades, Leonard Cohen has been one of the most important and influential songwriters of our time, a figure whose body of work achieves greater depths of mystery and meaning as time goes on. His songs have set a virtually unmatched standard in their seriousness and range. Sex, spirituality, religion, power – he has relentlessly examined the largest issues in human lives, always with a full appreciation of how elusive answers can be to the vexing questions he raises. But those questions, and the journey he has traveled in seeking to address them, are the ever-shifting substance of his work, as well as the reasons why his songs never lose their overwhelming emotional force. Documentaries, awards, tribute albums and the ongoing march of artists eager to record his songs all acknowledge the peerless contribution Cohen has made to what one of his titles aptly calls “The Tower of Song.”
In 2008 Leonard Cohen embarked on his first tour in 15 years. Quickly recognized as musical folklore in the making, 29 of the original dates sold out almost immediately, leaving fans and critics alike hailing the show as a once in a lifetime experience. By popular demand, the Canadian/UK tour was extended and by the end of that year it had reached 84 markets worldwide, selling more than 700,000 tickets. The Live In London release fully captures and recreates the extraordinary show from that tour that earned Cohen more than 80 five-star reviews for his performances.

JIMMY CAMPBELL’S ALBUMS ISSUED ON CD VIA ESOTERIC

| Released 23rd February 2009. Originally released in 1969, Son of Anastasia was the debut album by one of Liverpool’s finest musicians, Jimmy Campbell. Previously a member of The Kirkby s and 23rd Turnoff (who recorded Campbell’s Michaelangelo as a single for Deram Records), Campbell s solo career began ith this album (produced by John Cameron who had earlier worked with Donovan) which featured material both of aching beauty and melancholia such as the excellent On a Monday and his reworking of Michaelangelo. As with the music of Bill Fay (another songwriter whose work enjoyed a re-evaluation in recent times), Campbell’s work is ripe for rediscovery. Recently hailed by Mojo magazine as a buried treasure, this re-mastered CD release of Son of Anastasia is long overdue as tribute to the work of Jimmy Campbell who sadly passed away in 2007.

Following Union Square Music’s purchase of the Nazareth catalogue, Salvo is set to commence a comprehensive reissue programme of the internationally renowned Dunfermline group’s catalogue, beginning this summer with a definitive 2CD ‘Best Of’ collection.
More than 40 years after they started out in 1968, Nazareth are still playing sell-out international tours and last year they released their 23rd album, The Newz. One of Britain’s biggest rock exports, they have enjoyed major success in the UK, throughout mainland Europe, South America, the USA and Canada.
Renowned as pioneers of the rock ballad, they enjoyed 13 UK hit singles – including ‘Broken Down Angel’, ‘Love Hurts’, ‘Bad Bad Boy’, ‘This Flight Tonight’ and ‘My White Bicycle’ – and are rightly famed for their songwriting as well as their brilliant interpretations of other artists’ tunes. They are also acknowledged as a major influence on giant rock acts like AC/DC and Guns N’ Roses.
