Jeff Beck’s residency at London’s Ronnie Scotts was a the highlight of my year. So I am thrilled he is at last releasing a live album “JEFF BECK Performing This Week… Live At Ronnie Scott’s Jazz Club”. it is due on 10th November.
This will be the first release for his new label, Eagle. I am hoping that a dvd will follow as the shows were filmed.

Jeff Beck is a true rock legend. From his time with the Yardbirds in the sixties, through the Jeff Beck Group and throughout his solo career his unique guitar style and constant desire to explore new musical areas and sounds has won him the admiration of his peers and the adoration of legions of fans. In 2007 Jeff Beck performed a series of concerts at the renowned Ronnie Scott’s club in London. They became the must have ticket of the year with a packed audience every night of the famous and the fans. This CD features performances recorded across the different nights and presents the best version of each track.

Description
This release covers an eventful chapter in Arthur Louis’s career. Before the recording and release of “Knockin’ On Heaven’s Door” in 1974, Arthur had made the musical journey from Michigan University with a band called Terminal Stations via Brazil, Europe and the Orient before ending up in England.
Arthur performed with Jimi Hendrix at the Speakeasy club in London and became the beneficiary of Jimi’s White Stratocaster when his guitar was stolen. Arthur’s line-up for the recording of “Knockin’ On Heavens’ Door” including a young bass player called Mike Oldfield, whom Arthur introduced to Richard
Branson, leadi ng to the signing of Tubular Bells, and history in the making.
Eric Clapton and Gene Chandler guested on the album, and Eric loved Arthurs ‘ reggae arrangement of the title track so much he went on to release his own version as a single, and covered “Someone
Like You” on the B side as a thank you. The album was released and achieved chart success in Japan – reaching no. 6 in 1976. Havi ng lost his bass player to fame and posterity, and the album not
achieving the status it deserved, Arthur abandoned recording and took to painting in America. However, demand for live performances in England and Europe led Arthur back to music. A German label, Discovery Sounds, licensed and re-mastered “Knockin’ On Heaven’s Door” in 1991 for an audiophile release on vinyl only because of the albums’ status among collectors. In 1998 “Back from Palookaville” was released in Japan. The title came about as a riposte to a book about Branson
which unfairly characterized Arthur Louis as disappearing on a one way ticket to obscurity. Arthur Louis remains one of the greatest interpreters of Bob Dylan, as tracks on both of these albums will testify, and has six unreleased albums in his vaults.
This double album therefore serves both as a tribute to a unique musician, and heralds the start of a number of albums which will be released for the first time.
